Can You Spend New Year's Eve on a Seine Cruise?
Yes. If you are in Paris on Thursday 31 December 2026, a Seine cruise is one of the most memorable ways to spend the evening: lit bridges, the glowing Eiffel Tower, a festive meal or a glass of Champagne and, on some dinner cruises, music and dancing into the early hours of 1 January 2027.
The choices vary enormously in price. A festive sightseeing cruise costs a little over $100, while a multi-course New Year's Eve dinner with a good table costs several hundred euros per person. And a Seine cruise is not a way to see the official Paris New Year's fireworks: the main public display is at the Arc de Triomphe, not over the river or the Eiffel Tower.
Below we compare the cruises the operators are selling for the 2026–27 celebrations, explain what you get on each, and help you decide whether a boat is the right place to see in the new year.
Quick answer
- An all-in-one celebration with food, music and lit-up Paris: a New Year's Eve dinner cruise.
- River views without a gala-dinner budget: a festive sightseeing cruise.
- The official fireworks: the free celebration on the Champs-Élysées, on foot.
Prices and times below come from the operators' pages and the booking listings, checked between 29 and 31 October 2026. They can change or sell out, so check the date, menu and conditions before you pay.
Check Seats on the 31 December Dinner Cruise
The calendar below sells only the New Year's Eve sailing, so 31 December is the date to pick.
Luxury New Year's Eve Dinner Cruise along the Seine
Why this one: the Bateaux Parisiens New Year's Eve dinner cruise is the one we found that is still on the river at midnight. It leaves the foot of the Eiffel Tower at 9 p.m. and is back at the quay at about 12:30 a.m. It is rated 4.7/5, but from only 16 reviews, and some of the older ones complain about the food and crowded tables, so read the recent feedback before you book.
A five-course menu cooked on board, with Champagne Jacquart, French wines, water and coffee, on a glass-roofed boat. A singer performs through dinner, and the party carries on ashore after you dock.
- Check in at 8 p.m., depart at 9 p.m., back at about 12:30 a.m.; the festivities end at 4 a.m.
- About two and a half hours on the river
- Smart-casual dress code
- Sold as non-refundable: you cannot cancel for a refund
This listing does not say which of the operator's seating categories it sells. If a window table matters, compare the categories on the Bateaux Parisiens holiday cruises page.

| Bateaux Parisiens Premier dinner | In the operator's booking calendar | A table towards the front of the boat | Front-area seating, not necessarily a window; departs 9 p.m. |
| Bateaux Parisiens Premier Baie Vitrée dinner | In the operator's booking calendar | The best-placed window table | Front window seating; departs 8:30 p.m. |
Bateaux Parisiens shows its 31 December dinner prices only in its booking calendar, and we could not confirm the 2026 figures, so we have left them out. The same dinner is sold on GetYourGuide as the Luxury New Year's Eve Dinner Cruise, from about $577.

Filling the Days Around New Year in Paris
Between Christmas and New Year, a cruise pairs well with a visit to the Eiffel Tower, the paintings at the Louvre or the Musée d'Orsay, a walk round Île de la Cité and Notre-Dame, or an evening in Montmartre. These are the Paris tours and tickets travellers are booking right now.
Bateaux Parisiens: A New Year's Eve Sightseeing Cruise with Champagne
Best for visitors who want a festive hour on the river without a full dinner.
Bateaux Parisiens sells a special New Year's Eve sightseeing cruise from the foot of the Eiffel Tower. The New Year's Eve Sightseeing Cruise by Bateaux Parisiens on Viator lasts 1 hour 15 minutes and comes with Pommery Champagne, a smoked-salmon bun, a mini brioche with duck foie gras, and macarons. Commentary comes through an audio guide in 14 languages or a smartphone app, and the boat is glass-roofed and heated, with open-air decks.
It is a good choice if you have already booked dinner elsewhere, or would like to spend most of the evening on foot. It is a different product from the long gala dinner: do not assume it is still on the river at midnight. Check the departure and return times before booking, especially if you have a separate countdown planned.
Nor is it a fireworks cruise. No Seine boat is sold with a view of the official fireworks, which are at the Arc de Triomphe (more on that below).
Why book it: the essentials of a festive Seine cruise, Paris at night, a toast and a sense of occasion, for a fraction of a gala dinner's price.
What to check: the exact departure time, the boarding quay, whether your ticket gives you an indoor seat, and the cancellation terms. The Viator listing is sold as all sales final, and it is rated 3.5 from only 2 reviews, too few to judge it by.
Book or check: New Year's Eve Sightseeing Cruise by Bateaux Parisiens, from $117 on Viator, or the Bateaux Parisiens New Year's cruise page.
Bateaux-Mouches: New Year's Eve Dinner and Party
Best for couples and groups who want the whole celebration on the boat.
Bateaux-Mouches sells a dedicated Saint-Sylvestre dinner cruise from €480 per person on its own site. There is a special New Year's menu, dinner is accompanied by musicians and singers, and after the meal and the cruise, guests who want to can stay for live music at the quay.
You do not need to book a separate restaurant and a venue for the party, and the lit landmarks pass the windows while you eat. The same evening is sold on GetYourGuide as the Bateaux Mouches Special NYE Dinner Cruise, bookable for 31 December 2026, from about $538, and its listing gives the detail:
- boarding from 8:30 p.m. at Port de la Conférence, by Pont de l'Alma;
- departure at 9:00 p.m. and return at about 11:15 p.m., 2 hours 15 minutes on the river;
- a glass of Champagne with appetisers, then a four-course dinner with cheese and dessert, with vegetarian and vegan options;
- half a bottle of Champagne or wine per person, or soft drinks;
- two live musicians during dinner, and an upper deck with a 360° view;
- once the boat is back at the quay, you can leave or keep partying on board until 2:00 a.m.
So you see midnight on the moored boat, not sailing. One reviewer was disappointed to dock at 11:22 p.m., so if being on the move at midnight matters, choose the Bateaux Parisiens dinner. The GetYourGuide listing is rated 4.7 from only 6 reviews, and it offers free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
Why book it: dinner, live music and a party in one booking, with the option to keep celebrating after you dock.
What to check: the boarding time, the menu, any dietary requests, and whether the after-party is included in your ticket.
Book or check: the Bateaux Mouches Special NYE Dinner Cruise on GetYourGuide, or the official Bateaux-Mouches New Year's Eve offer.
Bateaux Parisiens: New Year's Eve Gala Dinner
Best for travellers who will pay for a long dinner, live entertainment and a chosen table position.
Bateaux Parisiens sails its New Year's Eve dinner from Port de la Bourdonnais, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. On the operator's holiday page, the Élegance, Privilège and Premier categories depart at 9:00 p.m. and Premier Baie Vitrée at 8:30 p.m. The version sold on GetYourGuide, the Luxury New Year's Eve Dinner Cruise, has a five-course menu cooked on board, Champagne and French wines, and a singer, and is back at the quay at about 12:30 a.m., with the party continuing ashore until 4 a.m.
The dinner categories differ mainly in where your table is:
- Élegance: central seating, with the festive meal, wines and entertainment.
- Privilège: window seating, useful if you want the view without leaving the table.
- Premier: seating towards the front of the boat; do not mistake it for a guaranteed front-window table.
- Premier Baie Vitrée: front window seating, the top category for anyone who cares most about the table's position.
Prices appear only in the operator's booking calendar. Families should check the child fare there too, and not assume a reduced rate on a New Year's Eve dinner.
Is a window-seat upgrade worth it? It can be, if the cityscape is a big reason for booking and you expect to spend most of the evening at your table. It is not essential to enjoying the meal or the atmosphere, so compare the price difference between Élegance and Privilège in the calendar before deciding.
Book or check: the Luxury New Year's Eve Dinner Cruise, 4.7 from 16 reviews, from about $577 and non-refundable, or the Bateaux Parisiens festive dinners to choose a category.
Can You See New Year's Eve Fireworks from a Seine River Cruise?
Do not book a cruise expecting to see the official fireworks.
The Paris tourist office lists the official celebration for the arrival of 2027 at the Arc de Triomphe, at the top of the Champs-Élysées: a light show projected on the arch from about 11:50 p.m., then fireworks at midnight. It is free. The show is not launched over the Seine, and the Eiffel Tower is not the advertised fireworks site.
The Arc de Triomphe stands well away from the river, so a cruise boat is not a reliable place to watch from. Even if you glimpse distant flashes from one stretch of the river, that does not make the cruise a fireworks trip.
If the fireworks are the point, go to the public celebration on the Champs-Élysées instead, and expect crowd controls, weather and any changes the city announces. For dinner, music and a romantic view of lit-up Paris, choose the cruise. The programme can change, so check it on paris.fr nearer the date.
Official event: Paris tourist office: New Year's Eve at the Arc de Triomphe
What about the Eiffel Tower at midnight?
The tower's lights are a big reason to choose an evening Seine cruise, and the sparkle makes a memorable backdrop. But the regular sparkle is not a New Year's fireworks display. Photos of fireworks at the Eiffel Tower come from other celebrations, not from what is planned for 31 December.
If seeing the tower sparkle is what you want most, read our guide to seeing the Eiffel Tower sparkle from a Seine cruise before choosing between a short sightseeing cruise and a longer dinner.
Dinner Cruise, Party Cruise or Sightseeing: What Should You Book?
| Your priority | Best type of cruise | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A memorable romantic dinner | A formal dinner cruise, such as the Luxury New Year's Eve Dinner Cruise | A multi-course meal with the city going past |
| Celebrating with friends | Dinner with live music and a party, such as the Bateaux Mouches Special NYE Dinner Cruise | Entertainment and a long evening in one place |
| Keeping the cost down | The festive sightseeing cruise | A festive atmosphere without paying for a gala dinner |
| Seeing the official fireworks | The celebration on the Champs-Élysées, on land | The official show is at the Arc de Triomphe |
| Spending midnight on the move | A gala cruise timed to sail through midnight | Confirm the return time before paying |
| Travelling with children | An earlier sightseeing cruise, or a carefully checked dinner | Child fares, the length of the meal and the late finish all matter |
An ordinary sightseeing ticket for another date may be cheaper than a 31 December special, but it is not interchangeable with a New Year's package. Holiday timetables, inclusions, return times and ticket conditions can all differ.
How Much Does a New Year's Eve Seine Cruise Cost in 2026?
The gap is large. The Bateaux Parisiens festive sightseeing cruise starts at $117 on Viator, the Bateaux-Mouches dinner and party at €480 on the operator's site (about $538 on GetYourGuide), and the Bateaux Parisiens dinner at about $577 on GetYourGuide, with the dearer table categories priced in the operator's calendar.
For two adults, that means ticket totals of about:
| Cruise | Total for two |
|---|---|
| Bateaux Parisiens New Year's Eve sightseeing cruise | From $234 |
| Bateaux-Mouches dinner and party, booked direct | From €960 |
| Bateaux Mouches Special NYE Dinner Cruise on GetYourGuide | From about $1,076 |
| Luxury New Year's Eve Dinner Cruise (Bateaux Parisiens) on GetYourGuide | From about $1,154 |
| Bateaux Parisiens Privilège, Premier or Premier Baie Vitrée | In the operator's booking calendar |
These are ticket totals at the listed prices, without transport or optional extras. Before comparing one operator with another, check what each includes: the menu, the drinks, service and the entertainment.
If you only want an hour or so on the Seine, a gala dinner is poor value. If a New Year's celebration is the high point of your Paris trip, the higher price makes more sense.
Where Do New Year's Eve Seine Cruises Depart?
The two big operators board in different places:
- Bateaux Parisiens: Port de la Bourdonnais, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
- Bateaux-Mouches: Port de la Conférence, by Pont de l'Alma on the Right Bank.
Your ticket confirmation gives the exact boarding point. Special-event sailings can ask you to check in earlier than usual, and some Paris operators have more than one pier. Our departure points guide maps them.
Leave time for security and boarding queues, and do not leave the journey to the last minute: roads and stations near the Champs-Élysées are under heavy crowd control on New Year's Eve, and Pont de l'Alma is not far from the avenue.
Getting Around Paris on New Year's Eve
Paris runs special transport arrangements on 31 December. In recent years, some Metro and RER lines have run through the night, travel has been free for part of the night, and stations around the Champs-Élysées celebration have closed. The 2026–27 details are set by the transport authority nearer the date.
Do not assume your nearest station will be open just because some lines run all night. Closures and access controls vary by place and time. Before setting out, check the current notices from your cruise operator and from Île-de-France Mobilités.
If your cruise finishes after midnight, plan your route back in advance, especially with children, if you are staying outside central Paris, or if you are counting on a taxi.
What to Wear on a Seine Cruise on 31 December
Paris is usually cold in late December, and you feel it most while waiting on an open quay or stepping out on deck. Even when the dining room is enclosed, dress for the outdoor parts of the evening.
A warm coat, a scarf and comfortable shoes make sense. For a formal dinner, check the operator's dress code (the Bateaux Parisiens New Year's Eve dinner asks for smart casual) and add a warm outer layer for boarding. If you plan to photograph the Eiffel Tower from the deck, bring gloves and keep your phone or camera out of the rain.
For practical advice, see the winter section of our Seine cruise dress code guide, and our guide to whether a Seine cruise in winter is worth it.
Is a New Year's Eve Dinner Cruise Worth the Price?
It can be, if you want the dinner and the celebration as much as the boat ride. On New Year's Eve you are paying for a date everyone wants, a special menu, entertainment, a long evening and, at the higher prices, a better table.
A gala cruise makes most sense if:
- you are celebrating a honeymoon, an anniversary or another big occasion;
- you want one booking to cover dinner and the evening's entertainment;
- you like the idea of watching the monuments go by over a long meal;
- you are comfortable paying holiday-event prices.
It makes less sense if:
- your main aim is to see the official fireworks;
- you mostly want a quick sightseeing loop of the Seine;
- you are travelling on a tight budget;
- your group wants to move between several neighbourhoods or parties.
Our recommendation: for a memorable evening that costs less, look at the festive sightseeing cruise first. For a special New Year's dinner, compare the Bateaux-Mouches dinner with Bateaux Parisiens Élegance before paying more for a better-placed table. For the rest of the year, our guide to the best Paris dinner cruises compares the regular dinners.
A Practical New Year's Eve Itinerary with a Seine Cruise
Option A: festive sightseeing and a separate dinner
Early evening: walk along the river near the Eiffel Tower and enjoy the city lights.
Cruise: take the special festive sightseeing cruise at the time printed on your booking.
Afterwards: have a pre-booked meal or drinks somewhere close to your hotel or your plans for later.
Midnight: see in the new year at a separate venue, or plan for the public celebration if the fireworks matter. Do not count on crossing the city quickly between venues.
Option B: spend the whole night on the dinner cruise
Before departure: eat lightly and reach your pier with plenty of time to board.
Evening: settle in for the multi-course dinner and the live entertainment.
Midnight: celebrate with the other guests, on the river or at the quay, depending on your cruise's return time.
After you dock: follow the crew's directions to any after-party included in your ticket, or head back by the route you planned.
The second option is usually simpler if you want a polished celebration with no venue changes.
Six Things to Check Before You Book
- The date: make sure the ticket is for 31 December 2026, not an ordinary December evening or a previous year's offer.
- The timing: is the boat still sailing at midnight, or back at the quay earlier?
- The type of cruise: sightseeing with Champagne and snacks, a formal dinner and a party cruise are different products.
- The table category: "premium" does not always mean a window seat. Read what each category says.
- The inclusions: check the drinks, the entertainment, dietary options and any after-party.
- The refund rules: special-date bookings often have stricter cancellation and change rules than ordinary sightseeing tickets. The Bateaux Parisiens dinner on GetYourGuide and the sightseeing cruise on Viator are both non-refundable.
Compare the operators' own pages with reputable booking sites, and check that you are comparing the same seating category and inclusions. If a site advertises an unusually cheap New Year's Eve dinner, read the fine print: it may be an ordinary sightseeing cruise or a different date.
New Year's Eve Seine Cruise FAQ
Are Seine river cruises operating on New Year's Eve 2026?
Yes. Bateaux Parisiens and Bateaux-Mouches both sell special 31 December 2026 dinner cruises, and Bateaux Parisiens also sells a shorter festive sightseeing cruise. Other operators may run special departures too; confirm their 2026 offer before you plan around it.
Can I watch New Year's Eve fireworks from a Seine boat?
Do not count on it. The official public fireworks are at the Arc de Triomphe, at the top of the Champs-Élysées, not over the Seine, and no cruise is sold as a fireworks view.
Are there fireworks at the Eiffel Tower on New Year's Eve?
The Eiffel Tower is not the announced location of the official fireworks. The Paris tourist office lists the 2026–27 show at the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Élysées.
What is the cheapest New Year's Eve Seine cruise?
Of the 31 December cruises compared here, the Bateaux Parisiens New Year's Eve sightseeing cruise is the cheapest, from $117 on Viator, with Champagne and festive snacks. Check any lower price carefully: it may be a regular cruise or a different date.
What is the best Seine cruise for couples on New Year's Eve?
For a full special-occasion evening, a dinner cruise with live music. The Bateaux Parisiens Privilège category gives a window table, at a higher price than central seating. Couples who want to eat elsewhere can take the festive sightseeing cruise instead.
Can children join a New Year's Eve dinner cruise?
Policies vary, and you should not assume a reduced child fare on a New Year's Eve dinner. The late finish and the length of the meal can also be hard on young children. Check the operator's child policy and boarding rules before you book.
Do New Year's Eve cruises sell out?
Holiday sailings have limited seats and fixed seating categories, so booking early makes sense, above all for a particular table or for a larger group that wants to sit together. There is no fixed sell-out date.
Do Seine cruises run after midnight?
Some New Year's Eve dinners are still sailing at midnight. The Bateaux Parisiens dinner returns to the quay at about 12:30 a.m. The Bateaux-Mouches dinner returns at about 11:15 p.m. and the party continues on the moored boat until 2 a.m. Shorter sightseeing cruises finish earlier. Check the times for the product you choose.
Can I book a normal sightseeing cruise instead?
Possibly. Some operators run ordinary sightseeing cruises on 31 December, but the departures and the last boat can differ from a normal winter day. Check that the ticket is valid for the date, and do not mistake an ordinary cruise for a New Year's package.
Which Paris New Year's Eve Cruise Should You Choose?
A Seine cruise is a beautiful way to welcome 2027, as long as you book it for the right reason. You get lit monuments, reflections on the water and a very Parisian sense of occasion. You do not get the official fireworks.
For most couples who want to be on the river at midnight, the Bateaux Parisiens dinner is the one to book, unless a non-refundable ticket is a problem; then the Bateaux-Mouches dinner, with free cancellation, is the safer choice. If you mainly want to enjoy Paris at night, the festive sightseeing cruise is the cheapest way in. For a full celebratory meal with live entertainment, compare the Bateaux-Mouches and Bateaux Parisiens dinners on their timing, seating and cancellation terms; only the Bateaux Parisiens one is still sailing at midnight. And if the fireworks are the highlight of your trip, plan your night around the Arc de Triomphe instead.
